Congratulations to Mrs. Weatherford, JBE's Teacher of the Year!
Cathy Weatherford embodies the excellence, dedication, and heart that define the very best of our profession. A true lifelong learner, Cathy has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to professional mastery this year, earning her Master’s degree and completing rigorous LETRS training to better serve her students. She is a model of coachability and growth, actively implementing new techniques and data-driven strategies to ensure every child in her care succeeds. Beyond her own development, Cathy has extended her impact by mentoring a student teacher, shaping the next generation of educators with the same intentionality she brings to her classroom.
In the classroom, Cathy creates a sanctuary of learning; her calm demeanor and consistent, kind-hearted approach allow students to feel safe, supported, and important. She meets every child exactly where they are, balancing high academic standards with the emotional intelligence every parent hopes for in a teacher. Whether she is collaborating with colleagues or building lasting bonds with families that endure years after a student leaves her room, Cathy is a vital asset to JBE and the entire district. She doesn’t just teach the curriculum—she builds a community where every student thrives.

Congratulations to Mrs. Harms, 2026 MCE Teacher of the Year!
Tina Harms is an educator who defines herself through intentional kindness and a deep, personal commitment to every student’s well-being. Whether she is meticulously ensuring a student feels safely included in every classroom activity or building a culture of cross-grade mentorship with "buddy room" collaborations, Tina consistently goes above and beyond. Her classroom at MCE is a space where academic growth is inextricably linked to emotional confidence. She doesn't just teach second graders; she empowers them to believe they are capable, worthy, and loved, maintaining high expectations while providing the individualized support each child needs to meet them.
What truly sets Tina apart is her extraordinary ability to bring imagination to life. In a beautiful display of dedication, she recently hand-crocheted custom "stuffies" based on her students’ own drawings, giving them a tangible sense of pride and magic. By teaching her students skills like crocheting, she fosters patience and creativity that stay with them long after they leave her room. A seasoned veteran and a cherished colleague, Tina is a pillar of support for her peers and a light for her students—the teacher they run to for hugs every morning. She represents the heart of MCE, proving that the most lasting lessons are the ones taught with a genuine, generous spirit.

Montgomery County R-II Wildcat Award, Mr. Clifton McReaken
January 2026
This year’s district theme, “Be the Difference,” reminds us that every action, every smile, and every moment of care has the power to change lives. Our staff live this message every day—by inspiring curiosity in our students, supporting one another, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
The individual we’re recognizing today has truly been the difference—through their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our students and community. Today we honor Mr. Clifton McReaken, MCR2 Maintenance.
Clif is a hardworking, friendly maintenance man that follows through and completes all the tasks he is given. His work is quality and supports the high standard set by our district to maintain our facilities for our students and community. Clif is always happy to help and is eager to take on additional tasks when I see him working in my building.
Clif is the definition of solid and dependable. No matter the task — and whether it’s pleasant or not — he shows up ready to get it done. He approaches every job with care and finishes it with fidelity, never cutting corners and never complaining.
Beyond his strong work ethic, Clif is kind, friendly, and steady — the kind of person you’re always glad to see walk through the door. And more than once, he’s quite literally saved the day, even answering a desperate call from me on his day off.
Clif embodies what it means to be a Wildcat: reliable, selfless, and all in for our school. We are grateful for him every single day.
Our district’s mission is to create lifelong learners and productive citizens. The Wildcat Award winners support our mission by building meaningful connections, creating a supportive learning environment, and through their commitment to professional growth. Their dedication fosters a love for learning and makes our schools welcoming spaces. We are fortunate that Clif is a part of our Wildcat family!

Montgomery County R-2 is fortunate to have many great staff members and many wonderful community members who support our kids. The district recognizes staff members, as well as our community supporters each month with Wildcat Awards. The community members receive the P.A.W.S. award, P.A.W.S. stands for Perpetually a Wildcat Supporter.
We are honored to recognize Karl and Becky Queathem for the Wildcat P.A.W.S. Award in acknowledgement of their continued support of our school district.
Karl and Becky Queathem support our students and staff in multiple ways. For many years they have been involved in the Booster Club and have spent many hours shopping for, and stocking, the concession stands. They are often working behind the scenes, stepping in to help with whatever is needed, to ensure our athletic contests continue to operate smoothly..
Karl and Becky are the true definition of Wildcat spirit. They bleed blue and white, showing up with the heart of a Wildcat in everything they do. Whether they’re loading soda machines, dragging the field, lending a helping hand, or volunteering on another committee or board, their energy is unmatched. If there’s a Wildcat event happening, you can count on Karl and Becky to be there—supporting, serving, and shining. Their dedication makes our school community stronger, and we are grateful they are part of the Wildcat family.
We continue to take nominations for the Wildcat and P.A.W.S. Award by completing the linked form, or you can email me (jschluss@mc-wildcats.org) your nominations. Congratulations Karl and Becky, and thank you for your continued dedication to our students, district and community!

Construction on I-70 will be impacting travel around Jonesburg starting this week. Attached is the information from MoDOT with maps of impacted roads. We are sharing this because it will impact some of our bus routes, and will likely impact many staff and students' routes to school. We ask for your patience as we modify the impacted bus routes throughout the construction. Please have your students ready 5-10 minutes early until we get the times figured out.

Today's HS Boys Basketball game at North Callaway will start at 2pm with JV Boys followed by Varsity Boys. North Callaway has changed the start time of the contest since the release of the original schedule. We are just making sure for those who plan on attending that you have the proper start times.
It is almost time for preschool screenings! If you have a child, or know of a child in our district, who will be 4 on or before July 31, please see the image for screening details.
