MCR2 Procedures for Virtual Class Enrollment
MONTGOMERY COUNTY R-II SCHOOL DISTRICT
VIRTUAL COURSE
PROCEDURES FOR ENROLLMENT
What is the process for a student/family to request virtual learning?
Elementary/Middle School Students
The student and parent/guardian must make a request for a virtual course during the district's regular registration period (course requests or changes are not allowed after the fifth day of the semester). The student and parent/guardian will need to visit with the Building Principal and Counseling Staff to determine if the courses in which they want to enroll will meet their needs. The students and if needed a parent/guardian will complete the self-assessment form to help them understand if they are a good candidate for a virtual course. After the self-assessment has been completed and scored the student and parent/guardian will have a discussion with the Building Principal and Counseling Staff. After the discussion of the self-assessment has occurred, a Virtual Course Application will need to be filled out and submitted to the Building Principal. The Principal will assess the application and make a determination as to whether this is in the best educational interest of the student.
High School Students

The student/parent will need to visit with the Counselor to determine if courses in which they want to enroll will meet their needs. Once they have determined which virtual courses will meet their needs, the student will be given a self-assessment to help determine if they are a good candidate for a virtual course. After the self-assessment has been scored and a discussion with the Counselor has taken place, a Virtual Course Application will need to be filled out and submitted to the Building Principal. The Principal will assess the application and make a determination as to whether this is in the best educational interest of the student.
